has 1 minute to find rats. Pass/ Fail. Optional class for dogs without an instinct pass, and for

dogs without an Intro Title to use as a warm up. Dog may enter both Instinct and Intro at the

same trial. One minute max. Handler can step into course with dog. This will be a simple,

straight chute with one tunneling and one climbing element

BARN HUNT INTRO (RATI):

Three legs required. Three PVC tubes: one “dry”, one

with litter (no rats), one with rats. Dog has 2 minutes from time of release to find the correct

tube. Handler must verbally indicate “HIDE” to stop the clock.

OPEN BARN HUNT (RATO):

Three legs required. 5 PVC tubes: 1 “dry”, 2 with litter, 2 with

rats. Dog has 3 minutes to find both “live” PVC tubes. Handler must verbally indicate live tube.

Handler or rat wrangler then removes tube #1 and hands to rat wrangler, then sends dog back

for live tube #2. Inability to remove tube from dog run ups clock time. As soon as tube is

handed to the rat wrangler, the dog can be redirected. The rat wrangler then confirms (or

continue to work until the time limit of the class.

off to rat wrangler as handler calls “HIDE”.
